Cafe Le PassioneAfter watching Eagle Eye with Tze Hoe and Wai Kuin, I have about 2 hour to kill before my dinner date with the Musketeers at Midvalley.
Its been awhile since I've indulged in the weekly 1.5 hour foot massage at Reborn in Hartamas Shopping Centre, and I thought I'll head over there for some R&R. But then, Reborn is fully booked, and I'm left with less than 1 hour to kill now, coz Shane can leave work earlier.
Well, Geng Ying had intro me to this cute lil' cafe, located at the Ground Floor of the Hartamas Shopping Centre. I particulary love their coffee, and had since became a fan of their Caffe Mocha (RM7.95). The staff try really hard to please, and will usher you to your seat, and will immediately provide sound recommendation on what's good and what's not. Just let them know what are you looking for, and they'll tell you what they have to offer....I like it because they are not too pushy, and still let you choose what you want in the end.
My current favourite :
(Grilled Tuna Melt Sandwich - RM 9.95, served together with a bed of salad and a piece of fruit)
I've ordered this twice and I like it each time i had it. The tuna filling, is mixed with light mayo, sunflower seeds and guess what's the surprise element here? They put in some small chunks of apple too!!! The original comes with melted cheddar, but since I don't really like the smell of cheese, I ask them to exclude that from my sandwich.
The sandwich tasted really refreshing, and the bread was toasted warm to perfection! I hate it when my sandwich is filled with cold fillings, like the Grilled Mushroom Sandwich from Delish.....gave me the feeling of eating uncooked food, fresh from the fridge... :P
just my personal preference, no offence!
Next, is the Caffe Mocha. Close friends will know that I'm not a coffee fan. I don't need a cup everyday to perk me up, I'm more of a Chinese Tea person.....a cuppa of strong tea, will pull me through the sleepy effect of heavy lunch when I'm working. But then, coffee will come into the picture after many late nights at work - it become an essential drink to keep your eyes open and your mind alert.
And to say that I'm addicted to this.....should say a lot about the COFFEE....

(They always serve their coffee with a small galss of water, and tiny piece of pistachio biscotti.)
I suspect the owner is Italian (by the way, most of the coffee are italian, or so the menu say so...or was it the waiter who told me so?? Not very sure), as I see him at the Cafe everytime I went there. Maybe, ...maybe when I work up the courage and stop feeling shy about snapping photos.....I'll do an interview thingy with him?? Kekekekeek....should post this as one of my Things To Do before Leaving KL......
Cafe Le Passione(located next to Dessert's Bar, opposite Yamaha/Times Bookstore - its under renovation at the moment)

Mamak Oh Mamak...
I love my neighborhood. Personally, I think its really very strategically located.....
Even though the likes of
Huay Yin and
Joe, thought that Kepong is a freaking KAMPUNG........
I'll rather call it a SUBURB ! :P
My neighbourhood is more than 15 years old....its called Bandar Menjalara (yes, i know its a mouthful....I used to have problems reading it out loud when I was in Std One). Located right after the LDP Toll, after you passed One Utama, The Curve, Ikano, Cineleisure and Damansara Perdana........and do a U-turn after you pass the toll, you'll see a turning to Bandar Menjalara, Sunway SPK Damansara, and Desa Parkcity.
Anyway, I side track again.....
This is about Malaysians' fav yum cha place......the infamous MAMAK....that'll still serve you piping hot Naan, assorted Roti Canai....and teh tarik...until the wee hours in the morning.
Around Bandar Menjalara, there used to be one mamak only - SPICY KITCHEN. They are known for their SUPER BIG JUG FRUIT JUICE......and since its opening in Bandar Menjalara, they had expanded their business to a more prominent neighbourhood = Desa Sri Hartamas.
There are others who came up after the Millenium, but aside from Spicy Kitchen, this other mamak located at the Medan Putra Business Center, is the one that'll I'll consider visiting.
*drum roll*
INTRODUCING ====> Al-Bakarath ( i think that's how you spell it...)

(Nasi Lemak Panas - the sambal is not the best, but I like the coconut rice, that is steaming hot!!)
(They make their roti super garing....and I like to have their Roti Kaya, it beats eating toasted bread with kaya and butter! Why leh? Coz Roti Canai gives a chewy texture inside, but when its made garing to perfection, the outside is CRUNCHY......)
And that's the Maggi Goreng......biasa. Nothing to shout about.....but its better than most mamak.
YUP - I can tick off "mamak food" of my to do list.
