So, I call these "phenemenons" = evolution.
For the 26 years of my life in Kuala Lumpur, doing household chores was never my favourite. Even simple chore like vacumming, can get me all worked up, especially the power cord of the vacumm cleaner seems to have a mind of its own, always get tangled up with chairs and corners.
I don't mopped the floor at home, because my hands will itch like mad due to contact with the detergents, and I don't do dishes much due to my butter fingers...I tend to do more damage than good when I'm doing washing up.
So it figures, that Mom hardly get me to do any household chores, unless she have no other choice. And with that, I'm totally a novice when it comes to cleaning a house. But then, there's really nothing that you can't do, especially when it comes with an instruction.
The first thing that I did was to buy a "carpet cleaner" detergent thingy. Its an aerosal can, filled with foam....apparently i just need to squirt out the foam and layer it evenly on the carpet and let dry. Once dry, it will become powderish and all you need to do is to vacumm away those powdery substance. And viola, the carpet will turn out a shade brighter than before!!
That's really easy...Just can't understand why the professional carpet cleaner clean the carpet like a professional!! The property management company should look into finding another carpet cleaner! The amount of dustball I vacummed away from the corners of my room(s) is appalling, since the agent told me that the house was professionally clean before!! I can't really say much, since she has the receipt to prove that!
Next, mopping the floor. Since the townhouse is fully furnished, they provided a squeegee mop, and with the floating floorboard, we can't mop with a wet mop. So the squeegee mop really helps to clean the floor, while not wetting it. Not too bad, just had a little backache from bending while mopping the living area.
These were done the first week when I moved in. Then the weeks that come are a big blur of activities, ranging from catching up with work, familiarising myself with the city, and yea, mostly its work, coz its been awhile since I've done audit planning, and it didn't help that they are using a new software.... To make things worse, they booked me on all those jobs where there's no recurring staff at all....alright, I'm exaggerating, there is recurring staff for one of them, but its the partner... !!!-_-
The next stage : "Fill in the blanks"
As much as the townhouse came fully furnished, where I can literally bring my bags and live in it...there are things missing. There's no iron and ironing board, and all the rooms comes with bed only (and I mean it..just the bed with no sheets and all....kekeke...). Yea, asking for sheets is a bit too much la, its not like this is a hotel. And if they wanted to give me sheets, I'll think twice about it, dunno what's and who has used those sheets before....
I reckoned I'll need a study table, in case I want to work in the bedroom. And I 'll need a proper bedside table, because the red footrest provided looks really shabby, plus you can't possibly balance a bedside lamp on a footrest?
Yea, so one of the weekend, Elaine, JJ and I rented a car, drove to Harbour Town for a shopping trip, and then went to Ikea, which is located nearby. Bought my desk, bedside table, ironing board and some other stuff....and unload them in the garage. They sat there for one whole week, until yesterday...when I decided its "DO or DIE"..... if I don't get it done, I'll leave it there forever!
And so, equiped with the allen key in the packaging of the bedside table, and the shoe rack that I shipped over from KL (important item...must shipped!) , and an odd screw driver that I found in one of the kitchen drawers, I became the handy man that a girl should not be!!!
But what the hell, I'm one proud handy man by the end of the night (its 1am in the morning when I'm done)......safe for the blistered hand (which is why I think I'm not made for this....prolly I should invest in some Powertools , get those electric screw thing that Daddy's workers use).
(The red and blistered hand.....can't really see hor? But it hurts... :( )
(My desk for the next 2 years.......)
(Blur pic of my shoe rack...which I happily pile all the shoes that I shipped over on it...IMMEDIATELY!! Talk about efficiency...)
Next stage ??? Making the townhouse, seems like home...
