If I remembered correctly, I've decided to make my own Hainanese Chicken Rice on 13/12/2008...just to celebrate the arrival of my shipment from Kuala Lumpur to my new abode, yea...at 7 Pistrina Court, where all cab company have no idea where it is, but refuse to listen to me when I told them its off Elizabeth street....!!!! They are so damn rigid...if its a street address, it must be in the format of House no. + Street name....if I just add on "off Elizabeth Street" they'll all go cuckoo!!!!
Anyway, woke up early on Saturday, bought 2 whole chicken coz they are really small....coz its free range or sumthing. Not sure what diff does it makes....was hoping that Sue Ann, Elaine , JJ and Gavin can pop by and be my guinea pig. First time making this...though I've seen Mom cooked this for a few times. I wanted to make my own Hainanese Chilli sauce, but can't find lime in the market.....and red chilli.....
Well, my guests that actually came consist of just Elaine and JJ.... Sue Ann had to work night shift, while GG is getting ready to head back home. So yea...we are stuck with 2 chicken and other dishes!!

The chicken...chopped into big big pieces coz my chopping knife is too tiny. The big one that Mom has at home will do a better job.....its a "Don't Mess with Me Knife"....mine is a baby knife compared to her's! Anyway, the chicken is not yellow like those we had in Kuala Lumpur....so, its not that nice! The toppings...can't find spring onions, but I found those seaweed salad thingy we had at the David Jones' Food Hall...and used that as topping instead...

Omelette with Prawns and Onion....just like Mom's. I reckoned I did a good job out of it.....its thick and juicy like the way Mom make it, not like those thin and miserable omelette you get in restaurant...

Char Siew.....not burnt enuff, and not sweet enuff.......can be better. But the butcher did give me the right part for making char siew....fat belly!! :P

Fried Choy Sum ... ok la...it tasted funny though.
All in all, JJ and Elaine is still alive after the meal....so I didn't kill anyone. As far as I know, the rice is all gone.....though I'll like it to be more fragrant with a stronger tinge of garlic taste.....and with the chicken rice chilli, it would have make it much better.
And of course, we didn't finish everything. 3/4 of the chicken was untouched...as the Char Siew proved to be more popular. So I sort of rub the leftover chicken with salt, add a dash of Hua Tiew wine (chinese rice wine), and put in slices of Pak Kei (chinese herb)...and some wolfberries. That'll be my "main" for the next two working days.....and all i have to cook is soup. One day, I had Chinese Herbal Soup, and the next day I have ABC soup.......
Well, by Thursday....I'm sorta sick of chicken...and cooking. Plus, it happens that Elaine call for an early dinner...so we head off to Kopitim @ Gouger Street. Its the only restaurant that we've discovered (thanks to Sue Ann), that serve food that closely resembles Malaysian food!!!! Slurp!!
The first time we are there, we ordered Curry Fish, Belacan Chicken, some beancurd dish and a vege.....
This time, with just the 3 of us, we had the following :

err..i dunno what's the name of this vege is, in English....so I shall call it simply : Fried Vege :P

Ayam Kapitan....very nice with the chilli dipping.....reminds me of Onion Fried Chicken....

Sambal fish....which is quite good. But we all agree that Belacan Chicken taste better than Sambal fish!!
Sigh..another satisfying meal ....and I say, with the shop located so close to my house, this maybe the place I'll frequent to tapau for those lonely dinner at home, when I'm too lazy to cook!
