Hunger pangs set in at about noon today, when my sister and I was heading off to HELP University to do some pre-u course enquiries (for the sister). I'm itching for comfort food and what's more comforting than a nice warm plate of risotto?
After having a good dinner at the Pressroom with Shane and Sarah a couple of weeks ago, I have been itching to go back to the Pressroom. So, there we go....for our lunch.
Having tried the Lobster Risotto for dinner last time, I've selected the asparagus and mushroom ragu risotto and the Wagyu Cheek Risotto for our lunch.
- not exactly appetising looking at it, but the combination of flavours are perfect! Not to mention, the texture of the risotto...is close to perfection! I have Shane's approval to vouch for that! -
- Wagyu Cheek Risotto-
The meat is tender, the risotto ..once again cooked to perfection. However, the flavour can be improved...there's something lacking, but I can't exactly pinpoint what's wrong though. Point to note, I think its rather brilliant for the chef to sprinkle some thin curls of lemon rinds, which add a good bit of tanginess to the risotto...~
At this point, i'm really contented with the meal, and was absolutely happy to part with my $$$ for this rather expensive lunch (the risotto range from RM25 - RM52 per plate, depending what you've ordered)
Then we thought we'll treat ourselves to some dessert.
I've selected the apple strudels and lo and behold, they planted the following mutated apple strudels on our table :

With all due respect to the dessert chef, or whoever they got the apple strudels from, its outright disappointing! Especially if they are charging me RM16 for it...I expect something better than that.
Look at the filling...nothing like the juicy slice of apples that should have been in any apple strudels. And the filling is a dry mixture of nuts, walnuts, apple and raisins....wrapped in something that's meant to be some sort of crepe. The crepe wrapping have a texture that's a cross between rubber band and card board ......
I'm no expert in Apple Strudels, but the strudels that I have in mind come in puff pastry and juicy apple fillings. Really disappointing. The only thing that's worth eating is the vanilla ice-cream.
The Chocolate Volcano, which effectively is a chocolate cake with molten chocolate fillings inside. Thank god they didn't screw this up......
Verdict ? I'll like to try their pizza, once they've sort out the problem with the gas supply. Apparently they've all the pizza oven installed, but couldn't get the gas supply connected as yet. Service is pretty good too. Price is way above average, but I personally think its worth it (with exception to the dessert).
They have a pretty nice selection of fine tea, and I haven't have a chance to check out their wine list. I did remember having a glass of really good Malbec the last time I had dinner there with the girls, so maybe they have a good selection of wine too...
Total damage for the lunch? $ 148.35
